Presence:  Your Key to Powerful Speaking

Monday, May 11, 2009

6:30 – 9:00 p.m.

Orinda Library (Directions & Map)

The meeting will be held in Room 7 of the Community Center which is connected to the Library building.

Presenter: Doreen Hamilton

When you deliver a speech to an audience, work with a client, or talk intimately with a friend, it is your presence that carries your words to the listeners.  Being in the moment, fully present, connected to your self and others gives power to what you say.

Fear can block you from being yourself in front of others.  Doreen Hamilton’s book, Essential Speaking: The 7-Step Guide to Finding Your Real Voice offers an alternative approach to reducing speaking anxiety.  She believes that being centered in our true selves is the key to relaxed and confident speaking.

Doreen will introduce you to Essential Speaking and present the 7 Steps she writes about in her book.  You can learn to

  • Speak without fear in any situation
  • Be fully present in front of groups
  • Create real connection with listeners
  • Access your wise inner voice
  • Live an authentic life
